Car Thief Snagged Keys From Gym, Police Say

A Toyota Corolla was reported stolen from outside LA Fitness in Bala Cynwyd on June 5.

On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion police reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in the Narberth-Bala Cynwyd area:

  • Theft of vehicle: A 2006 Toyota Corolla was stolen from the parking lot outside LA Fitness between 7 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, police said. The keys had been taken from a workout area.
  • Burglary: Cash and a television were taken from a house on the 100 block of Fairview Road in Bala Cynwyd sometime June 5, police said. There were no signs of force.
  • Internet fraud: The Avis car rental business on Belmont Avenue in Bala Cynwyd reported Wednesday, June 6, that someone rented a 2012 Chevy Traverse online using false personal information. The vehicle has not been recovered.
  • Theft from building: An iPad was taken June 5 or June 6 from a Harmelin Media office on the 200 block of St. Asaph's Road, police said.
