Drunken Narberth Woman Attacks Jail Camera, Police Say

A 54-year-old Narberth woman arrested outside her apartment Tuesday tried to vandalize a surveillance camera in a Lower Merion holding cell, borough police told Patch.

tried numerous times to persuade the resident to return to her home, Sgt. Bob Yantorno said, but eventually arrested her on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

People arrested in Narberth are typically held in cells at the because the borough does not have holding cells, Yantorno said. Once in the holding cell, the Narberth woman tried to vandalize the camera, apparently with the intent of disabling it, Yantorno said.

Whether substantial damage was done or the woman would be facing additional charges was not immediately clear; no relevant docket had been filed on the Montgomery County District Court website as of Friday morning. Lower Merion police could not immediately be reached for comment.

The incident comes five months after another Lower Merion holding-cell occupant was accused of . The charge was later dropped.
