Interlocking "FJ" logos have been stenciled on parking spaces and the entry to the building. The IHOP sign is long gone; a sign on the front door in early April told visitors the restaurant would close for maintenance and reopen April 10, which did not happen.

The Montgomery County Health Department inspected the restaurant last week, and an inspector was told management planned to open within weeks, according to the health department.
Another sign at the restaurant announces it is hiring, but contact information could not be immediately found. The former IHOP phone number is disconnected. No owner or manager was present as a cleaning crew worked Wednesday afternoon.

The restaurant is within the boundaries of the City Avenue Special Services District, but Flap Jack management has not been in contact in staff there, according to a CASSD employee.
On March 5, when the restaurant was still an IHOP, it closed for a couple hours while health-code violations were remedied, according to reports from 3:15 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. that day.
