Maggie Lucas of Narberth Leads Penn State Into NCAA Tournament
The Nittany Lions open against UTEP Sunday in Louisiana.
The Penn State women's basketball team, ranked among the best dozen squads in the nation, will return to the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, led by All-Big Ten first-team guard and Narberth resident Maggie Lucas.
The entire tournament bracket was revealed Monday evening, showing the No. 4-seeded Nittany Lions will play No. 13 seed UTEP in the first round at 5:15 p.m. Eastern time Sunday in Baton Rouge, LA. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2. The winner faces either LSU or San Diego State on Tuesday.
Last year, in Lucas's freshman season, the team advanced to the second round, where it lost to DePaul.

Lucas, a Germantown Academy graduate, before the season began, telling reporter Tom Sunnergren, "I expect my role to go up a little this year. I know the system more. ... Overall, I feel a lot more confident."
This season, Lucas has led her team in scoring, free-throw percentage and three-point shooting percentage while ranking among the nation's best in those categories: 24th, 11th and 7th, respectively.
