News Chief Leaves California for NBC Philadelphia

Anzio Williams takes over in the Bala Cynwyd office July 16, according to reports.

A man who has been news director of NBC affiliates in New Orleans and Sacramento has taken the job of Vice President of News at NBC Philadelphia (WCAU-TV), the station has announced.

Anzio Williams takes over July 16, according to NBC Philadelphia's article on the matter, which quoted him as saying, "I’m so proud to be part of the hardest working news team in Philadelphia. This is a great news town and I cannot wait be a part of this community."

Broadcasting & Cable reported that Williams' predecessor, Chris Blackman, left WCAU June 15 and that Williams left KCRA in Sacramento three days later, citing "a desire to pursue some other career interests and opportunities."

Said station president/general manager Eric Lerner in NBC Philadelphia's story: “We’re thrilled to welcome Anzio to our leadership team. He has a distinguished record of accomplishments as a news manager and as a proven leader. He is a great addition to our team."
