Police Blotter: One Lord & Taylor Theft Succeeds, Another Fails

The City Avenue store was targeted twice in the past week.

Thieves targeted Lord & Taylor on City Avenue in Bala Cynwyd at least twice in the past week, Lower Merion Township police reported Monday.

Three men stole several packs of T-shirts from the store about 5:05 p.m. Jan. 31. They left through the men's department doors and eluded security in a white Ford Taurus, driving toward Belmont Avenue.

Then on Feb. 5, about 4:55 p.m., Mary Touch, 27, of Philadelphia was arrested on charges she slipped two $20 Rumba watches in her handbag and tried to leave with them.

Other incidents from the past week in Bala Cynwyd, as police reported Monday:

  • A juvenile stole a bike on the unit block of Hampton Terrace about 10:10 a.m. Feb. 6, heading toward City Avenue and getting four blocks away before police accosted him. The $200 bike was returned to its owner and the case referred to a juvenile investigation. No charges have been reported.
  • Andrew Glavin, 20, was charged with public intoxication and underage drinking after he was seen urinating on the sidewalk outside 7-Eleven at City Avenue near Old Lancaster Avenue about 11:35 p.m. Feb. 6. Glavin was turned over to St. Joseph's University security.
