Police Blotter: Thieves Hit Homes in Bala Cynwyd, Belmont Hills

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion police reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in the Narberth-Bala Cynwyd area:

  • Theft from residence: Between Feb. 24 and March 20, someone stole an iPod, prescription medications, jewelry and a digital camera from a home on the 100 block of Fairview Avenue in Belmont Hills, police said.
  • Burglary: A home on the 300 block of Trevor Lane in Bala Cynwyd was burglarized between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. March 20, police said. The homeowner left a side door unlocked in the morning, then returned in the afternoon to find one jewelry box missing and another opened and ransacked, police said.
  • Public intoxication: Matthew Hooley, 21, of White Bear Lake, MN, was arrested at 12:32 a.m. March 23 after, police said, he was walking in the street on the 200 block of Belmont Avenue and was almost struck by two vehicles.
