Police Blotter: Two Bala Cynwyd Homes Burglarized

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Monday afternoon,  reported to news media the following incidents from the past week:

Public drunkenness: Anthony Allen, 29, of Philadelphia was charged at 11:43 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Bala Cynwyd Shopping Center.

Burglary: Police responded to an alarm on the unit block of W. Princeton Road in Bala Cynwyd at 6:47 p.m. Dec. 2. Upon arrival, officers checked the premises, and a side window had been smashed out, police said. The homeowner returned home and determined about $14,000 worth of jewelry had been stolen, police said.

Public drunkenness: Police said they observed a man get out of a Jeep at the intersection of Old Belmont and Belmont avenues in Bala Cynwyd at 2:22 a.m. Dec. 3. The man then jumped back in the Jeep, which made a turn without a signal, police said. Police said the driver and passenger had just met that night, and the driver was attempting to give the man a ride back to St. Joseph’s University. The man, Kyle Sims, 22, was charged with public drunkenness, police said.

Burglary: Change and jewelry were stolen from a home on the 400 block of Tregaron Road in Bala Cynwyd sometime between 4:30 p.m. and 3:30 a.m. Dec. 4. Police said the intruder got in by forcing open a kitchen window. The value of the stolen jewelry is not known at this time, police said.
