Squatter Found on Oakland Terrace

Police believe a man has been living in a home up for sheriff sale.

Police suspect that a squatter has been living in a home on the unit block of Oakland Terrace for at least a month.

On Nov. 6, at approximately 9:10 a.m., a neighbor checked on a property on the block that has been foreclosed and is up for sheriff sale, police said.

She told police that she periodically checks the property, but that she hadn't done so since at least late September.

While checking the property, the woman noticed that a rear door was open, and she called the police.

Police arrived on the scene and checked the property.

Police noticed there was damage to the rear door as if it had been forced open, and they found a mattress lying on the floor in the dinning room.

Police do not believe anything was taken from the property.
