Straw Purchaser in Police Officer Shooting Pleads Guilty

The man charged with purchasing the gun that killed Plymouth Township Police Officer Bradley Fox has pleaded guilty to multiple counts of sale or purchase of firearms, and other charges, according to the Delaware County Times.

Michael Joseph Henry, 31, of Philadelphia, allegedly made “straw purchases”  of seven pistols and two rifles for Bala Cynwyd resident Andrew Charles Thomas, who was unable to possess firearms, as he was on probation for a 2005 forgery arrest in Upper Merion Township.

Thomas used one of the handguns to kill Fox, and then himself, on Sept. 13.

In an interview the day after Fox’s death, Henry allegedly said that Thomas paid Henry $500 in addition to the purchase price for each weapon that was sold to him over a four-month period in 2012.

On Feb. 8, Henry pleaded not guilty to the crimes.

Previous to that hearing, Henry had apologized to the Fox family.

Henry, currently being held at the county jail in lieu of $1 million cash bail, faces a maximum sentence of 42 to 84 years in prison.
