The Baldwin-Whitehall School Board must set the B-W School District's millage rate for the 2013-14 school year by June 30, and to make sure that it does, the board has scheduled three public meetings for this month.
The meetings will be on Wednesdays, June 5 and 12, at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Wednesday, June 19, meeting at 7 p.m.
All meetings will be held at the Baldwin-Whitehall School District Office along Curry Road in Whitehall Borough.
Mark R. Cherpak, business manager for the district, has presented a budget to school board members that shows a proposed rate of 19.21 mills for next school year—down from 23.40 in both 2011-12 and 2012-13.
However, due to a recent countywide real estate reassessment that has raised the value of most Baldwin-Whitehall properties, some property owners may end up paying more in local real estate tax than they did last year. [A 19.21 rate equates to $1,921 per year for anyone with a property valued at $100,000 (land and building value combined).]
You can view the proposed budget here.
The school district office address (part of the Whitehall Elementary School building) is 4900 Curry Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
