Bensalem Man Tried To Run Over Victim 5 Times: PD

Jeffrey Santucci, 66, was charged with aggravated assault and other offenses for an incident on Bristol Pike Saturday, Bensalem Police said.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — A 66-year-old township man has been charged after chasing a man with a large knife on Saturday, and then trying to run over him, possibly due to jealousy of a relationship the victim was in, police said.

The Bensalem Township Police Department has charged Jeffrey Santucci, 66, of Bristol Pike with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment of another person, and related offenses.

Bensalem Police responded at 4:10 p.m. Saturday to the intersection of Bristol Pike and Red Lion Road for the report of a disturbance.

When police arrived, a man stated that another man pulled up next to him in a red GMC SUV and began yelling at him. He then exited the SUV with a large knife in his hand and chased the victim, police said.

When he could not catch him, Santucci then entered his SUV and attempted to run the victim over. Police said he then stopped, backed up, and tried to run him over again.

Santucci then went south on Bristol Pike, then immediately made a U-turn and attempted to run the victim over again.

'He then entered Philadelphia via Red Lion Road. Four minutes later, the SUV was back on Bristol Pike traveling north when it swerved across traffic onto Red Lion Road and attempted to again run over the victim, who was standing on the side of the road.

The SUV spun its tires and did circles, trying to strike the victim before it finally fled northbound on Bristol Pike.

Police said the entire incident was captured on surveillance video.

During its investigation, Bensalem Police said Santucci may have been motivated by jealousy of a woman that the victim was dating..

Bail was set at $75,000 unsecured, and Santucci was released from custody.
