Bensalem Woman Led Cops On 117 MPH Chase While DUI: Police
She was driving a stolen pickup truck on the Pennsylvania Turnpike when she refused to stop for a trooper, state police said.
BENSALEM, PA — A Bensalem woman is accused of driving DUI in a stolen pickup truck when she led troopers on a chase at speeds of up to 117 m.p.h. on the Pennsylvania Turnpike over the weekend.
Brittany Marie Wendler, 29, is charged with eluding police, DUI, motor vehicle theft and more in the incident, which started at 10:56 p.m. Friday on the turnpike in South Whitehall Township.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, Wendler was clocked driving south at 98 m.p.h. in a 70 m.p.h. zone on the turnpike. She refused to stop for a trooper, police said, setting off what would become a 22-mile chase that ended in Lehigh County.

During the chase, troopers say Wendler repeatedly weaved in and out of traffic and drove on the shoulder of the highway, hitting speeds up to 117 m.p.h. She was eventually stopped by several officers using a roving roadblock.
Earlier Friday, troopers say, the Dodge Durango that Wendler was driving had been reported stolen from a convenience store in Allenwood, which is in Union County north of Harrisburg.

When she was finally stopped, police say, Wendler appeared to be under the influence of drugs.
She was taken to Lehigh County Jail, where she was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail, according to state police.
