"Given the recent increases in travel-related infections from states with higher incidences of COVID-19, we need to maintain the same common-sense health and safety practices that have gotten us this far in Bucks County," said Dr. David Damsker, director of the Bucks County Department of Health.
Over the past three days, Bucks County reported 75 new coronavirus infections, along with six delayed reports of old cases. The average of 25 new cases per day is roughly in line with what Damsker had predicted would be a baseline number as businesses and other public spaces reopened under the green phase of Pennsylvania's coronavirus plan.
Those low numbers come as the United States set a record for new coronavirus cases on Thursday. A total of 60,021 cases were reported nationwide, with spikes in Arizona, California, Florida and Texas accounting for nearly half of all the new cases.
Of the 81 total cases, 15 were people who are believed to have been infected while visiting another state, health officials said.
Bucks County now has had 5,654 residents test positive for COVID-19 during the pandemic. A total of 510 deaths have been attributed to the virus. Of those, 408 were residents of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.
The median age of those infected in Bucks is 55, while the median age of death is 82.
