This Summer, Bucks County Community College is Igniting A Spark by opening the new Center for Advanced Technologies (CAT) in Bristol Township, PA. The new 28,000 square foot facility will provide students with an up-to-the-minute, high-tech learning environment and will house advanced manufacturing training and workforce programs to fill a growing need for skilled workers in Bucks County. The Center for Advanced Technologies (CAT) will meet the community’s needs while defining the future of advanced manufacturing education. Watch this video for more information.

The flexible design of the new building is designed to support the needs of today’s workforce as well as the evolving educational requirements and changing needs in advanced manufacturing and the skilled trades. The CAT will be critical to the success of advanced manufacturing companies in and around Bucks County.

Training participants will receive an outstanding education in a state-of-the-art facility and will house the award-winning Metalwork and the Industrial Maintenance pre-apprentice programs as well as other new trainings geared to helping you gain new skills and knowledge toward your next career or increasing your skills for career advancement. Anticipated new programs are: welding, robotics, construction and building trades, with more to come.

New cohorts of Metalwork (machinist training), Industrial Maintenance (electro-mechanical technician), Microsoft Office Technology & Customer Service Specialist (administrative/office positions) and Bookkeeping with QuickBooks Certification (Bookkeeper positions) will get underway starting in August in the CAT, so take a look at www.Bucks.edu/wfd for more information and information session dates. This is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of free training to gain more knowledge and skills. Bucks’ advanced manufacturing trainings (Metalwork and Industrial Maintenance) can lead directly into a career or into an apprenticeship program. Additionally, they count towards the Engineering Tech two-year - a great way to save time and money.

The Industrial Maintenance Pre-Apprenticeship Training Program: in only 12 weeks, participants can train for a new career with an average starting salary of $20/hour plus benefits with a 90% job placement rate. The training includes theory and hands-on skills training and introduces participants to the fundamental concepts and skills required by electro-mechanical technicians. Electro-mechanical technicians combine knowledge of mechanical technology with knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits. Students earn OSHA10 & Forklift Safety certifications. The next training cohort starts September 12.

The Metalwork Pre-Apprenticeship 12-week Training Program includes theory as well as hands-on skills training, and introduces participants to the fundamental concepts and skills required to be a machinist in the field of advanced manufacturing. The next cohort starts August 1.

The Microsoft Office Technology & Customer Service Specialist Training is an 8-week, online course designed to give participants the skills necessary to work effectively in any business environment with the perfect combination of technical and essential soft skills. Students will be taught by Industry Experts and will be matched with a Career Coach who will work with them on finding their next career opportunity. The next training starts mid-Fall, 2022.

Bookkeeping with QuickBooks is a 7-week, accelerated online program designed to give participants experience with accounting, QuickBooks and Excel. Students will be taught by Industry Experts and will be matched with a Career Coach who will work with them on finding a career. Training is online and starts early Fall 2022.
