Local Firefighters to Honor Lost Brothers
Bensalem fire chief said the tragedy reminds us how dangerous the job is.

Members of Fire Rescue (IAFF Local #4837), Bensalem EMS, and the Volunteer Fire Companies will be attending the services of two Philadelphia firemen who were killed in the line of duty Monday.
According to CBS, Lieutenant Robert Neary, 59, and Firefighter Daniel Sweeney, 25, were battling a five-alarm fire that started in a Kensington warehouse when walls collapsed around them.
“This tragic event reminds all of us, whether career or volunteer, how dangerous our jobs can be,” said Bensalem Battalion Chief Robert Sponheimer.

Philadelphia police have issued traffic advisories for the firefighters’ services on Friday and Saturday. Neary’s viewing will take place at Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Road, starting at 4 p.m. Sweeney’s viewing will take place at St. Cecilia's Church, 535 Rhawn Street, at 5 p.m.
Gov. Tom Corbett ordered all Pennsylvania flags in the Capitol Complex and at commonwealth facilities in Philadelphia County to fly at half-staff through Saturday, April 14, to honor the fallen firefighters.
