Police Announce National Night Out Friday in Bensalem
What's going on around town today.

- On Tuesday, August 6, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Bensalem neighborhoods are invited to join together with thousands of communities nationwide for the 30th Annual National Night Out. National Night Out is an event aimed at raising awareness of crime and drug prevention which is coordinated by the National Association of Town Watch and locally sponsored by Bensalem Township and Shoprite. This year’s event will include approximately 15,700 communities from all 50 states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. In all, over 37.5 million people are expected to participate in this year’s event. Â
- The Bensalem police department has also been receiving reports of an animal that looks like a hairless fox running around the Franklin Mills Mall neighborhood, according to Phillyburbs.com. Have you seen this strange creature?
- After living in a Moscow airport since June, National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden began his temporary asylum Thursday by staying with Americans in the Russian capital whom he met earlier on the Internet, his attorney told CNN. Russia's awarding temporary asylum to Snowden infuriated American officials. Snowden has legal status in Russia for one year.
- Mostly sunny on Friday, with a high near 86, according to theNational Weather Service. Some showers and a thunderstorm is possible for Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the 80s.
