Route 1 Paving, Line Striping Planned Overnight

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said that paving and line striping operations are planned overnight this week on Route 1.

The roadwork is under a $116 million project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of U.S. 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships.

Drivers are advised of the following travel restrictions:

• Sunday, Aug. 17, through Friday, Aug. 22, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, lane closures will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange for paving and for line striping.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur.

All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.

The work is part of PennDOT’s U.S. 1/RC2 contract that will reconstruct and widen U.S. 1 from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange.
