Route 1 Traffic Improvements Planned This Week

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —Construction takes place this week on the Route 1 Traffic Improvements Project.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said that Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) construction is planned for Route 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships under PennDOT’s $116 million project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of the highway.

Drivers are advised of the following travel restrictions:

• Monday, Feb. 24, through Thursday, Feb. 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., periodic lane closures will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Rockhill Drive and Fairhill Avenue for the removal of temporary ITS equipment.

The work is part of PennDOT’s U.S. 1/RC2 contract that will reconstruct and widen U.S. 1 from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange.
