This week marked the soft opening of Lulu’s Casita, a coffee shop and playspace on Cricket Avenue in Ardmore.
Lulu’s is the brainchild of Jessica Robles Worch of Ardmore and Vivian Gonzalez of Havertown, who co-own the enterprise. The two met when Robles Worch’s daughter, now 4, was 3 months old.

“It’s a place for parents, caregivers to hang out and have a cup of coffee. So you can sit down for a little bit and talk to a grownup,” Robles Worch explained, adding that she and Gonzalez felt such a place was lacking on the Main Line when her daughter was younger.
Lulu’s Casita consists of a cafe with WiFi, a play space for little ones, two party rooms. The focus is on children ages 0 to 5. “At that age, it’s so hard to take them places,” Robles Worch said.

The atmosphere is relaxed. “We wanted it to be a home-like feel, a place to have fun and relax, especially for mothers of young ones,” Robles Worch said. “This is like having a friend from South America and you go to their house.”
Robles Worch and Gonzalez both have South American heritage, and everything at Lulu’s “has a little Spanish flavor,” Robles Worch said.
Lulu’s Casita is at 6 Cricket Ave. in Ardmore. It’s open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Playtime is $8 for the first child; $4 for subsequent siblings. Children under age 1 are free.
A grand-opening celebration is set for Nov. 2.
