At Scoops, First Customer of the Day Eats Free

If you've driven by in Bryn Mawr in the past week, you might have noticed a sign there that reads "For today, first customer eats free."
"It's something to stir up a little bit of curiosity," said owner Anthony Della Porta. "It gets the day started a little bit."
Della Porta said an employee thought of the idea and taped up the sign on Monday. He said he's gotten a number of people in the store asking if they're the first customer of the day.

"Before, we were doing free samples, but we kind of needed to switch things up," Della Porta said.
Scoops, which offers frozen yogurt, milkshakes, Italian water ice, gelati and ice cream, in Bryn Mawr on March 30. Scoops has another store .

Della Porta said they're trying to increase the number of people who live in surrounding areas like Gladwyne, Ardmore and Villanova to visit the Bryn Mawr shop.

They've also signed up to do a Groupon soon, which will be redeemable at both the Bryn Mawr and Conshohocken location, he added.
Scoops is open from 2 to 10 p.m. daily.
