Briggs Sees Democratic Challenger

A Democratic challenger filed against sitting Rep. Tim Briggs in the 149th District, and Republicans also filed for the seats currently held by Briggs and Rep. Mike Gerber in the 148th District.

Last week, candidates were required to file petitions for the April 24 Pennsylvania Primary in the General Assembly.

In the House, Democrat Nahjee Grant and Republican Perrin Hamilton filed against Briggs in the 149th District, which represents parts of Lower Merion Township (including Bryn Mawr, Villanova and Rosemont), along with all of Bridgeport, Upper Merion Township and West Conshohocken. Briggs is currently serving his second term.

Republican Mike Ludwig filed against Gerber in the 148th District, which represents parts of Lower Merion Township (including Gladwyne), Plymouth, Upper Dublin and Whitpain, and all of Whitemarsh, Conshohocken and Narberth, according to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives website. Gerber is currently in his fourth term.

For the state Senate, incumbent Sen. Daylin Leach (D-17th) is being opposed by Republican Charles Gehret.

The deadline to file objections to the petitions is Feb. 23.
