Bryn Mawr Bakery Apologizes After Cake Mocks Philly Police

The badge that appeared on the cake read "Coffee, Corruption, Donuts," rather than "Honor, Integrity, Service."

BRYN MAWR, PA — An apparent mistake from a Bryn Mawr bakery has led to controversy over a cake's decoration that mocked Philadelphia Police.

According to Action News, The Bakery House in Bryn Mawr made a cake for a Philadelphia woman who wanted to celebrate her friend's 25th anniversary of working for the Philadelphia Police Department.

But the badge that appeared on the cake read "Coffee, Corruption, Donuts," rather than "Honor, Integrity, Service."

The customer, Tina Jones, provided the bakery with an image of the Philadelphia Police badge, but Bakery House owner Sandy Stauffer said the image was too blurry so her decorator found another image online.

However, that image featured the mocking words.

"In her haste, it was an image that had been manipulated," Stauffer said in a Facebook post. "No one caught the mistake. This is not who I am! This is not who my staff is. We are beyond mortified."

Jones refused a refund from the business, saying accepting the refund would effectively say the mistake was ok, according to Action News.

Stauffer said she has the "utmost respect for all law enforcement and so does my staff."

"We hope you can find it in your hearts for understanding and forgiveness," she said.
