Police said the witness also reported that the offenders fleeing Winsford Road were heard speaking Spanish, leading police to suspect a connection to South American organized theft groups.

Lower Merion Police are investigating these crimes for connections to known patterns, and taking proactive measures to address such criminal activity.

Police urge residents to report any suspicious activity they see in the township by calling 911.

Residents who have home alarms or cameras should ensure they are working properly, and to consider adding second-story window sensors or motion sensors, especially where second floor windows are accessible from a lower roof, wall, patio, or garage.

Another tip offered is to make homes appear to be regularly occupied. Avoid leaving packages stacked on porches, newspapers in the driveway, or mail visible in mailboxes, and keep interior and exterior lights on timers to come on before nightfall.

Lower Merion Police also remind residents of their vacant house watch program. Residents who are planning to be away from their homes can sign up online here to have police check on their properties.
