Cox to Take Reins of Baldwin's Varsity Soccer Program
Cox is in his second year as Baldwin's assistant athletic director.

Adrian Cox has been named varsity soccer head coach at The Baldwin School, announced Wednesday by Deb Surgi, director of athletics. Cox is currently in his second year as Baldwin’s assistant athletic director and coached the Middle School soccer team to an undefeated Inter-Ac League season this past fall. Cox has more than 15 years of experience as a coach at the club, high school and college level.
“I am excited to announce the appointment of Adrian Cox as Baldwin’s next Head Varsity Soccer Coach. Adrian brings knowledge, passion, experience, creativity and a strong work ethic,” said Deb Surgi. “I am excited for our student athletes and the future of soccer at Baldwin.”

On an independent school level, Cox arrived to Baldwin from Germantown Friends School, where he spent two years as the Varsity Girls Soccer Head Coach. He also served as Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach for five years at The Episcopal Academy.
On the collegiate level, Cox served one year as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Immaculata University. His career also included a two-year position as Graduate Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Drury University and three years as Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Bradley University, where he helped the Braves program earn a Top 25 national ranking and a bid to the 2002 NCAA Tournament.
“I am very excited to be the new varsity head coach at Baldwin,” stated Cox. “I am passionate about soccer and believe with hard work from the coaches and players something special can be built at Baldwin. I look forward to the fall season and creating a culture of soccer in the school community.”
Cox is highly active in the suburban Philadelphia youth soccer community. He is the current Main Line site director for the Philadelphia Union Summer Select program, which is held at Baldwin. He has coached teams and directed camps for the following clubs: Lower Merion Soccer Club, Haverford Soccer Club, FC DELCO, West Chester United, Penn Fusion, West-Mont United and YSC Sports. In addition, his extensive experience includes coaching and playing on the international level in Argentina, Germany, Holland and Belgium. Adrian is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and holds his Premier Coach License and Director of Coaching Diploma. Furthermore, he is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
As a player, Adrian played for FC DELCO and the EPYSA and Region One Olympic Development Program. He is a member of the FC DELCO Hall of Fame. He earned a soccer scholarship to the University of Richmond and was a four-year member of the Spiders nationally ranked program. Adrian helped the program win the 1998 Colonial Athletic Association Tournament Championship and earn a berth to the NCAA Tournament.
Adrian earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Leadership Studies with a minor in Sport Management from the University of Richmond. He went on to receive his Master’s in Education Degree in 2001 from Drury University in Springfield, MO. Adrian and his wife Jackie, Haverford College Field Hockey Head Coach, have a son Colin and reside in Wynnewood, PA.
