Report On Pierre Robert's Death Will Not Be Released, Officials Say

Legendary WMMR Radio personality Pierre Robert was found dead in his Gladwyne home Wednesday. His cause of death remains unknown.

GLADWYNE, PA — The music and broadcasting industry is still reeling from the death of longtime 93.3 WMMR Radio personalist Pierre Robert.

Robert, 70, was found dead Wednesday in his Gladwyne home by Lower Merion Township Police.

Lower Merion officials told Patch Friday that while a report regarding Robert's death exists, it will not be released due to its status as a non-criminal investigation.

Patch has also contacted the Montgomery County coroner's office for information on Robert's cause of death, but has not received any information as of this article's publication.

Robert's death was announced by WMMR's owner, Beasley Media Group, Wednesday.

In the announcement, Beasley Media Group said foul play is not suspected in his death.

"A true radio icon, Pierre was one of the most recognized personalities in the City of Philadelphia," the statement read. "He joined the rock station back in 1981 and hosted the midday show with his unabashed love for music, his listeners, and the city. The legendary rock radio personality was best known for his welcoming ‘Greetings Citizens’ salutation, along with his big heart and warm voice!"

"We’re heartbroken to share the passing of our dear friend and legendary voice, Pierre Robert," WMMR said on social media. "You will be missed beyond words."

In the wake of Robert's death, countless tributes poured in for the beloved host.

From rock icons such as Jon Bon Jovi to the American Red Cross, many artists, fellow broadcasters, and charitable organizations expressed grief over the community's loss.

Details on funeral services for Robert have not been publicly announced.
