As Sub-Zero Temperatures Linger, Montco Extends Code Blue

A Code Blue is issued "when winter conditions pose a threat of serious harm or death to individuals without shelter."

Montgomery County on Thursday announced that it is extending its “Code Blue” declaration through noon Sunday.

The Code Blue, issued “when winter conditions pose a threat of serious harm or death to individuals without shelter,” originally was set to expire at 9 a.m. Friday.

The extension was issued “based on a review of forecasts from the National Weather Service,” Montgomery County Public Safety officials said.

Overnight Thursday, temperatures around 10 will feel like zero, and there’s a chance of snow, though little accumulation is expected, the NWS said.

Highs will be in the 20s Friday, with high winds gusting up to 23 mph. More snow is likely Friday, again with little accumulation, the NWS said.
