Young Republicans Endorse Lower Merion Candidate for Montco Commissioner

Scott Zelov and Steve Tolbert received the endorsment from the Montgomery County Young Republicans.

A Lower Merion commissioner running for the GOP nomination in the Montgomery County commissioner primary election picked up another endorsement Thursday.

Scott Zelov, a member of the Lower Merion Board of Commissioners, and Steve Tolbert, a member of the West Norriton Board of Commissioners, have been endorsed by the Montgomery County Young Republicans’ (MCYR) Executive Board.

MCYRs Chair Brad Vasoli, Vice Chair Nick Fountain, Executive Director Catie Scott and Solicitor Jordan Green said they will encourage the group’s members and hundreds of email and Facebook subscribers to vote for Tolbert and Zelov in the May 19 primary election for Montgomery County Commissioner.

“Steve and I are very grateful for the support and endorsement from MC Young Republican leaders,” Zelov said. “They realize that Montgomery County needs commissioners with real world management experience. After all, there are only three County Commissioners, and they are in charge of a $375 million county budget.”

MCYRs’ Executive Board took office one month ago. The four who joined the endorsement said the Tolbert-Zelov ticket, which is supported by the Montgomery County Republican Committee, will be the first of numerous county GOP efforts the MCYRs will recruit students and young professionals to assist.

“Our members decide who they support individually, but it’s our prerogative as MCYRs officers to spread the word on our party’s endorsements,” Vasoli said. “Given their records on preserving quality of life as well as controlling taxes and spending, we couldn’t be prouder to do that for Commissioners Tolbert and Zelov.”
