Judge Lowers Payments North Strabane, Canon-McMillan Must Make to Homeowners' Association

North Strabane Township's required payment was cut in half.

A judge has lowered the payments North Strabane Township and Canon-McMillan School District must make to the Glencannon Homes Association, according to the Observer-Reporter.

The judge ruled the township and school district must each pay $500,000 to the association due to "tort law limiting damages against government entities to $500,000," according to the report.

North Strabane would have been required to pay $1 million and the school district $600,000.

A jury awarded the Glencannon association $1.6 million in June for damage to their neighborhood pond due to water runoff from a Canon-McMillan School District sports and recreational facility construction project.

The attorney for Glencannon is trying to reverse the latest ruling.
