Montour Trail Connectors Set to Open

A ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, July 28.

Living in the Canon-Mac area, you're more than familiar with the Montour Trail.

The multi-use, non-motorized recreational rail-trail spans 330 miles from Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C., and will extend 46 miles from Moon Township near Coraopolis to Clairton once current construction is complete. 

A ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, July 28, to recognize the opening of two bridges built to fill gaps on the trail in nearby Cecil, according organizers.

Georgetown Road at mile 27.3 and Morganza Road at mile 27.1 are expected to open a few days prior, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. 

Festivities begin at noon at Cecil's Hendersonville Park.
