Possible SF Road Closure Could Affect Some Cecil Residents

South Fayette Township is considering the partial closure of Coal Pit Run Road for safety reasons.

South Fayette Township administrators are considering closing two roads for safety reasons, and one of those potential closures could affect a handful of Cecil residents.

According to a report from The Almanac, administrators have recommended the partial closure of two roadsβ€”Pinch Road and Coal Pit Run Roadβ€”for safety reasons.

A portion ofΒ Pinch Road,Β located off Tom’s Run Road,Β would be closed annually from Nov. 1 to April 1 because it is difficult for road crews to navigate during the winter. A permanent closureΒ of part of Coal Pit Run Roadβ€”near the Washington County line, where the roadΒ intersects Bowman Roadβ€”also was recommended.

Currently, no one lives on that section of the road. There are some occupied residences along the Cecil Township portion of the road, but those residentsΒ would still have access to their properties from other roads and would be notifiedΒ regarding the potential closure, should it occur, according to the report.

The potential road closures were a recommendation, and no final decision has been made. To read the full report from The Almanac, click here.
