
The state Supreme Court on ThursdayΒ issued an order quashing an appeal regarding the implementation of certain parts of Act 13βPennsylvania's law governing Marcellus Shale drilling.
In October 2012, the Commonwealth court ordered the Public Utilities CommissionΒ to βcease and desistβ from implementing certain parts of Act 13, specifically the provisions under which the agency would have a role in reviewing and approving municipal zoning ordinances.
The PUC appealed that order.
On Thursday morningΒ the Supreme Court quashed that appeal βwhich means thatΒ the court will not be reviewing the matter.
Local communitiesβsuch as Cecil and Petersβhad challenged Act 13 and are awaiting a ruling by the court regarding the legislation.
