Here's everything you need to know about Tuesday.
Rooftop Gardening Workshop: Friends of the Wissahickon will host a rooftop gardening workshop on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Valley Green Inn. Here's how they describe the workshop: Rooftop agriculture is taking root in cities across North America. Learn more about this exciting agricultural movement with the Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW) when they host a lecture by Philadelphia landscape architect Lauren Mandel on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. at Valley Green Inn. Rooftop Agriculture is part of FOW's popular lecture series Valley Talks, sponsored by Valley Green Bank.
Mandel will explore the evolution of the rooftop agricultural movement as well as four primary production strategies: container gardening; raised bed production; row farming; and hydroponics. She will use case studies and photographs to illustrate the diverse people and places involved in rooftop food production.
Valley Green Inn is located on Forbidden Drive in Wissahickon Valley Park. Light refreshments will be provided. Register for the lecture by contacting Sarah Marley at marley@fow.org or 215-247-0417 x109, or visit www.fow.org. Spaces are limited."
