Bigger, Better Community Days on Tap for Cranberry

This year's three-day event includes a larger carnival and "Broadway in the Park"

Get ready, folks. Cranberry Community Days is back again this summer—and bigger than ever.

At Thursday’s Board of Supervisors meeting, Cindy Marzock, a board member of the nonprofit Cranberry Township Community Chest, which sponsors the three-day event, gave officials an update on this year’s attractions.

The annual celebration, which promotes and raises money for Cranberry’s volunteer and nonprofit organizations, takes place July 11-13 at Cranberry Community Park.

New this year are more vendor booths, including booths that can be booked for one, two or all three days of the festival, and an easier layout.

In an effort to simplify the booth set up, Marzock said the upper level for vendor booths was eliminated.

Several trees in the park also will be “yarn bombed,” or enveloped in colorful knitting. Marzock said volunteers are still busy knitting some of the covers for the trees.

“It’s beautiful,” she said.

The festival also includes an expanded art show, a larger carnival and a free area for kids activities.

Cranberry also will present “Broadway in the Park,” a concert featuring local performers singing Broadway favorites. New this year is a movie night following the car cruise contest.

Activities also are taking place before the official start of the celebration.

At 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, the Westinghouse-Cranberry Volunteer Fire Company Golf Outing will be held at Cranberry Highlands Golf Course. Proceeds from the event benefit recruitment for the fire company as well as the Cranberry Kids Castle, CTCC’s community project of the year.

The Martinis with Monet art show will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 10 at the Cranberry Municipal Center.

On Thursday, July 11, before the park opens for the festival, the Four Pillars of Cranberry Invitational Luncheon honoring the community’s business, religion, government and nonprofit organizations will be held at the Cranberry Highland Golf Club.
