Cranberry To Relax Park Restrictions On Dogs

And Rotary Dog Park is moving to a new and better location.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - Township supervisors have approved an initial series of recommendations of a residents' committee that will relax dog restrictions in township parks.

Leashed dogs soon will be permitted along the nature trail and play areas of the new disc golf course at North Boundary Park. Signs will be placed at numerous points indicating the conditions of access. A corps of volunteers will be recruited to offer guidance to dog owners., and persistent violators of the restricted areas will result in citations by police.

In another change, a newly donated piece of property adjacent to the township's public safety area will allow for the relocation of Rotary Dog Park to a larger, flatter, shadier and less isolated area of the park.

"I'm convinced, as a result of the (committee's) hard work collaborating with one another as well as with township staff, that dogs and their owners will find themselves in a much friendlier, more accepting community," township manager Jerry Andree said in a statement on the township website. "And for that we owe the committee members a huge debt of gratitude."
