To receive final certification from the Professional Association of Diving Instructors, those completing the course must undertake four additional dives, in open-water environments, separately from the Waterpark class offering. PADI is the world's leading scuba diving training organization.
To qualify, class participants need to be strong swimmers and in good health. That includes being able to swim eight lengths of the pool and tread water for 10 minutes.
Anyone 12 to 17 years of age will also need both medical and indemnity waivers signed by a parent.
A $175 program fee for the class, which meets Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. from July 15 to 31, is payable at the time of registration. Â
Registration is available in person at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center's Parks & Recreation Information Desk, by phone at 724-776-4806 x1129, or online at www.cranberrytownship.org/programs
