Five Things You Need to Know This Week

1. Seneca Valley School Board Meeting
What’s going on in your child’s school? Find out in person when Seneca Valley school officials meet at 8 p.m. Monday, June17 at the Intermediate High School in Jackson Township. The board is expected to vote on a final budget for the 2013-14 school year at the meeting.
2. Big Ben Youth Football Camp at Seneca Valley
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger returns to Seneca Valley for his annual youth football camp. The camp takes place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18 at NexTier Stadium in Jackson Township.
Even if you don’t have a youth in the program, it’s fun just to see Big Ben interact with the kids on the field. Plus, you never know who might show up. Past guests at camp have included Coach Mike Tomlin, Brett Keisel and Charlie Batch.

3. Crafty Friday at Cranberry Library
Get creative with you kid. Crafty Friday takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the children’s room at the Cranberry Public Library inside the municipal center. There is no cost for the event
4. Alton Brown at the Market District
Food Network star Alton Brown of “Good Eats” is coming to the Market District in Pine to discuss his successful career and his love of food at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 22. The event is free, but tickets are available are only available on a first come, first serve basis.

5. Zumbathon in Cranberry
Popular Cranberry Township fitness instructor Kelly Riddle will hold a Zumbathon from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 22 at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center gym.
The event will raise funds and awareness for PanCan through Team Riddle and PurpleStride Pittsburgh, a 5K walk/run to fund pancreatic cancer research.
Riddle’s husband, Sean, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year. The Zumbathon will feature six instructors dancing to latin and popular music, basket raffles, and the opportunity to register to walk or run with Team Riddle Aug. 3 on the North Shore.
