Lightning Strikes Cranberry Dress Barn

Tuesday's stores also caused outages at several traffic signals.

Firefighters responded to the Cranberry Mall on Route 19 in Cranberry Tuesday afternoon after lightning struck the Dress Barn's rooftop HVAC unit.

Cranberry Chief Brian Kovac said the store's employees called 911 after noticing the smell of smoke and a light haze in the building.

Firefighters used a ladder truck to climb to building's roof and found no flames. The store was not damaged.

No one was injured in the incident.

Tuesday's storm also caused power outages at several traffic lights in Cranberry, including on Freedom Road. There also were a few blown transformers in the Freedom Road area, Kovac said.
