Dormont Fire: Kelton Avenue Blaze Put 3 In Jeopardy

The fire broke out Thursday evening the Dormont Fire Department stated.

DORMONT, PA — Three people escaped from a house fire Thursday night in the 1400 block of Kelton Avenue.

According to the Dormont Fire Department, the fire broke out in the living room of the residence at around 7:20 p.m.

"With the assistance of our first arriving mutual aid partner Mt. Lebanon Fire Department, crews began attacking the fire in the living room as well as searching to ensure no other individuals were in the building," a post on the department's Facebook page stated.

"As multiple other mutual aid departments began to arrive on scene it was determined that fire had spread through the walls and up through the ceiling. Crews from multiple departments worked together to open up walls and ceilings on all levels to fully extinguish the fire. Excellent teamwork from everyone involved."

The department acknowledged the Paramedics of Medical Rescue Team South Authority for providing medical coverage to firefighters, as well as the manpower and support from the following departments:

The department also thanked the Green Tree Volunteer Fire Company for filling in at the Dormont station to provide coverage to the rest of Dormont while the Kelton Street blaze was brought under control.
