New Legislation Would Block Allegheny County Reassessments

The legislation, proposed by State Sen. Wayne Fontana, would block court-ordered property reassessments.

Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and Pittsburgh City Council members are supporting state legislation—proposed by State Sen. Wayne Fontana (D-Brookline)—that would halt court-ordered property reassessments, according to a report by WTAE.

The proposal also would give the county and local governments the ability to replace a property tax with income, payroll or sales taxes if they so choose.
