Woman Gets Prison Term For Crash That Killed Brookline Cousin

A North Side woman was traveling 100 mph when the fatal crash occurred, police said.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A woman will spend 6 to 12 months in prison for causing a deadly crash that killed her cousin last year.

Allison Matthew, 27, of the North Side was drunk when the fatal wreck occurred on Saw Mill Run Boulevard in February 2021. In addition to being intoxicated, police said she also was driving more than 100 mph.

Her cousin, Katherine Barvilchak, 26, of Brookline, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
