Parente: We opened our first store in Newtown, Bucks County in 2001. With the advent of our newest store in Doylestown Borough, we now have five locations. Dogs and Cats Rule has also been proudly serving the communities of Pennington and Princeton New Jersey, as well as the community of Maple Glen, Pennsylvania.
Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?

Parente: The Parente family has been in the retail food business in the Philadelphia area since 1920. Over the years our affinity for dogs and cats lead us to a more rewarding purpose: helping our community take care of their cherished pets.
Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?
Parente: Dedicated wellness solutions serving community.
Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?
Parente: The biggest day-to-day challenge we face is navigating the ever-evolving retail landscape in order to adapt and thrive as an organization that continues to provide an exemplary experience for our community.
Patch:What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Parente: Establishing answers that address the needs and concerns that our pet parents present to us.
Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?
Parente: The products we offer and our desire and ability to cater to the general welfare of our local pets.
Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?
Parente: To “do what you do best.”
Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about?
Parente: The development of our latest location in Doylestown Borough coming into fruition after years of planning and dedication. We are thrilled and honored to be a part of and serve the Doylestown community.
Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community?
Parente: The twelfth annual Bark in the Park event hosted at the ballpark of the Trenton Thunder taking place in August 2018.
