Why are you seeking elective office?
I believe that our community needs a strong voice for children, parents and taxpayers. I have a special passion for helping children with special needs.
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Our district lacks strong leadership and not just at the board level. I intend to advocate for the best education for all the students in the district. I will ensure that this is done in a fiscally responsible manner.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I have been both a teacher and am now an attorney. From my experience as a teacher, I appreciate the importance education plays not only in students' lives but also to the well being of our community. As a lawyer, I have taken on very difficult, trying cases throughout my career. These experiences have strengthened me for the significant challenges facing our district in the coming years.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.
Now more than ever our community needs sound leadership and a school board they can count on. Our children, parents, and taxpayers are facing a crisis and we need adults in the room who will fight for what’s best for our children. There’s a responsibility that comes with leadership, and I intend on bringing the integrity and accountability to this position that it deserves.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
As the endorsements from my former students indicate, I was a successful teacher and made a positive impact on their lives. I know what it takes to be an educator. As a lawyer, I have taken on some of the largest companies in the world in very hard cases and won. Both experiences show I have the ability and the capacity to be an effective school board director.
The best advice ever shared with me was:
“Do not be outworked. It is that simple."
