Why are you seeking elective office?

I am passionate about our community and equipping our students for the future. As a father of three daughters, I understand the importance of a comprehensive, well-rounded, and inclusive education for the future success of our children.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

CBSD’s education should evolve and match the needs of today’s business environment so that our students are:

  • Able to view the world through an inclusive lens including inclusivity of opinions, background and experiences
  • Prepared to be global citizens, in addition to learning how to be skilled employees, entrepreneurs or academics
  • Provided a unique environment to excel (Academics, Social, Other environments where students can flourish with the help of innovative programs for their particular needs).

I intend to bring my perspective to the board and advocate for additional education for our students that more closely align with todays changing environment.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I have two children in the district and understand both a parent and student perspective. I have a background in HR that includes hiring individuals with the right skills for the role. I can bring that perspective to the board.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

Maintaining a competitive advantage. Continuing our high level of education provides a competitive advantage:

  • For students -a well-rounded education
  • For parents - an ability for to see their children excel
  • For taxpayers -investment in our community and property values
  • Fiscal responsibility
  • As parents we want what is best for our children, but as a taxpayer, we need to be cognizant that emotions do not override logic
  • Fiscal responsibility in the school district is a participative sport. Consultation “Listening Generously” with those being impacted is integral to the process. Individuals that work in our schools and administration need to be at the forefront of cost containment, cost savings and continuous improvement

We need to ensure we are concentrating on goals that yield savings without sacrificing our educational quality and jeopardizing our competitive edge as a community.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I am an HR Executive at a global medical device company and I have acquired unique skills that are essential to success in the school board position.

The best advice ever shared with me was:

What got you here, won't get you there.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

In order to be successful, I will:

  • Listen Generously
  • Explain “why”
  • Practice transparent decision making
  • Stand up when something is wrong
  • Use conflict resolution skills to produce a healthy outcome

My professional success is achieved by being both technically proficient, and recognizing there are many ways of looking at something and just as many ways of doing things.
