All Doylestown Health Staff Have Complied With Vaccine Mandate

The hospital saw a clear path to 100 percent compliance with the COVID-19 vaccine mandate by Nov. 11.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — After announcing a COVID-19 vaccine mandate on Aug. 6, Doylestown Health said Tuesday that 100 percent of its workforce is now fully compliant with the mandate.

Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown Hospital Medical Staff, and Pine Run Retirement Community laid out their COVID-19 vaccine mandates back in the summer with clear guidance to becoming compliant by Nov. 11. The mandates allowed workers to apply for medical or religious exemptions.

"We implemented this requirement after extensive research and careful consideration and were fully confident that the 100 percent vaccination requirement would be the most effective way to ensure patient, staff, volunteer and community member safety,” said Scott S. Levy MD, Doylestown Health's vice president and chief medical officer. “This requirement is an extension of our organization’s belief that following the science is the most effective way to serve our community.”

Doylestown Health offered staff a variety of educational opportunities regarding the vaccine and answered questions submitted online by staff who needed clarity on the mandate or otherwise had been hesitant about getting vaccinated.

In addition, the health system worked to make vaccines as accessible as possible and offered multiple on-site clinics with free vaccinations, as well as accepting documented vaccination by other providers.

“We are beyond grateful to our associates, medical staff, and volunteers who support patient and coworker safety every day and are proud of the fact that Doylestown Health was one of the first health systems in our region to require the vaccine,” said Jim Brexler, president and CEO of Doylestown Health.

He also emphasized the hospital's commitment to local vaccine education.

"Our health system has embraced the vaccine as the priority step for our community as well as the U.S. to overcome the virus, and we continue our dedication to working with our community to increase vaccination rates,” he said.
