DOYLESTOWN, PA — A former top prosecutor in the Bucks County District Attorney's Office who was demoted last month has filed for resignation.

The departure of Assistant District Attorney Gregg Shore will become effective Wednesday, a DA's spokesperson confirmed.

Once the second-in-command in the district attorney's office, the longtime prosecutor's resignation comes less than a month after news of his side job as a DoorDash delivery driver — at times during normal work hours — became public.

Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub had said that Shore had exercised poor judgment but decided not to fire him in part due to past performance, perhaps most notably as the lead prosecutor in the Cosmo DiNardo and Sean Kratz 2017 murder trial.

“A person should be judged for more than just his mistakes,” Weintraub said. “While he has no excuse for his conduct, I also note that as an attorney who is always ‘on call,’ even during nonworking hours as the job dictates, that there was never a lapse in Gregg’s availability to us when called upon.”

Jennifer Schorn, at the time an Assistant District Attorney, was appointed to fill Shore's position following his demotion.

Antonetta Stancu, a Democrat and former prosecutor in the DA's office who is challenging the incumbent Republican in the November election, had called on Weintraub to fire Shore for his reported behavior as a high ranking law enforcement official. She also called for an investigation.

"Slapping him on the wrist by simply penalizing him with some lost vacation time and a demotion does not honor the trust that the taxpayers have placed in the office of the District Attorney," Stancu said in a statement. "It's outrageous to note that the position Shore was demoted to is one to which many ADAs strive for. The taxpayers deserve more respect."

A DA's office spokesperson said they are looking to fill the vacancy.
