Bucks County Blue Zones Report Scheduled For Release In Early 2025
The "Ignite" phase of the partnership launched in late-May to overwhelming interest from the community.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Blue Zone Project, which sent a team to Bucks County earlier this year to investigate establishing a transformative well-being initiative here, is expected to release an in depth report of its findings in the first quarter of 2025.
“One of the projects I am most excited about is Blue Zones Ignite Bucks Area, an initiative I’ve been working on this year in partnership with the Bucks County Health Improvement Partnership (BCHIP) and the national Blue Zones organization,” said Sen. Santarsiero.
Blue Zones are based on 20 years of research and scientifically proven lessons of longevity, health and happiness, from the longest-living communities in the world.

In partnership with Sen. Santarsiero and BCHIP, Blue Zones is conducting a community-wide assessment of the 10th District for the purpose of recommending infrastructure, policy, and
other improvements that will help determine how to make the community into a healthier and happier place to live, work, grow up, and grow old.
Before launching Blue Zones Ignite Bucks Area, Sen. Santarsiero engaged with health systems, municipalities, community organizations, local businesses and restaurants, and school districts to hear different perspectives on the needs of the community.

The Ignite phase of the partnership launched in late-May to overwhelming interest from the community. During a telephone town hall in early July, Sen. Santarsiero was joined by thousands of constituents eager to learn more about the initiative and get involved.
In late July, hundreds of 10th Senatorial District residents joined Sen. Santarsiero for three days of
in-community events with the national Blue Zones organization, engaging community members in focus groups, keynote events, and presentations.
Hundreds gathered for keynote events at the Bristol Wharf and Bucks County Community College’s Newtown campus to learn more about Blue Zones Ignite Bucks Area and ask questions of the organization’s experts on built environment, food systems, tobacco and alcohol, and people and places.
While the Blue Zones team of experts was in town Sen. Santarsiero led tours of the 10th Senate District, highlighting opportunities to build on existing infrastructure and policies to improve the overall health of the community. The tours focused on parks, trails, schools, neighborhoods, restaurants, supermarkets, healthcare facilities, senior housing and the many businesses on both the main streets of boroughs and around its townships.
Blue Zones also facilitated a roundtable discussion of healthcare leaders, including Bucks County Health Improvement Partnership and CEOs and leadership from the health systems serving our community, as well as focus group discussions on built environment, schools, worksites, food
systems and tobacco and alcohol. Dozens of local experts joined with the Blue Zones team of experts to share their experiences in each of the areas, helping to paint a robust picture of life in the 10th District.
“The Blue Zones team is wrapping up its in-depth assessment of our area into a report,” said Sen. Santarsiero. “In the first quarter of the new year, we’ll be announcing opportunities for community members to learn what is in the report and hear about next steps. I’m excited to see
where we go next with this project, and I look forward to sharing updates in the new year.”
