Central Bucks School Board Appoints Interim Superintendent
The appointment of Abram Lucabaugh comes less than a week after the sudden resignation of Superintendent John Kopicki.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Following last week's sudden resignation of Superintendent John Kopicki, the Central Bucks School Board has appointed Dr. Abram Lucabaugh as interim superintendent.
The board voted 8-1 to appoint Lucabaugh to the position through June 30, though his tenure could be extended if the superintendent search is still ongoing. Board member Karen Smith was the lone dissenting vote.
Lucabaugh was a principal at Central Bucks High School East for 11 years prior to becoming Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education in June 2018. His education career began as a classroom teacher at Hatboro Horsham High School.

Kopicki, who had served in the position for five years, will continue to serve as a consultant for the district for the remainder of the school year, the school board said in a statement announcing Kopicki's resignation Friday.
While the exact reason for Kopicki's sudden departure remains unclear, board president Tracy Suits said Tuesday he resigned "to pursue other professional opportunities" and thanked him for his time serving the district.
