Cranksgiving To Hit The Streets Of Bucks Co. This Weekend
Local cycling enthusiasts ride to collect non-perishable grocery items while supporting the Bucks County Housing Group.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Bike Works is gearing up for its 12th Annual Cranksgiving Bucks County bicycle ride, which is set to hit the pavement on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 9:30 a.m.
The ride is scheduled to depart from the Central Bucks West High School student parking lot on MacFarlane Lane in Doylestown. Online registration is free, and event day registration begins at 8:45 a.m. at the school.
The 28-mile ride will visit three area grocery stores where participants will purchase non-perishable grocery items and load them into a box truck provided by the Fred Beans Auto Group.

The donations will benefit the Bucks County Housing Group food pantries, which serve nine percent of Bucks County residents and 16 percent of Bucks County children who face daily food insecurity.

Since 2012, the local cycling community has donated more than 119,000 pounds of non-perishable grocery items to support the community. Donations are also accepted at Bike Works Doylestown (139 S. Main St., Doylestown 18901) and Bike Works Newtown (208 N. Sycamore St., Newtown 18940).
Backyard Beans Coffee Company (Lansdale and Ambler) will provide pre-ride coffee, and Jersey Mike’s (Doylestown) will provide post-ride lunch for participants.
“Cranksgiving was the first event our business organized when we were founded in 2012,” said Fran Taloricco, controlling partner at Bike Works. “We’re proud of how our cycling community has embraced the event.”
Cranksgiving Bucks County is part of the grassroots, nationwide Cranksgiving effort to support local food pantries and charitable organizations that fight food insecurity. More than 100 cities are hosting events this year while providing more than one million meals.
“We’re grateful to Bike Works for hosting Cranksgiving and for continuing this incredible tradition of giving back,” said Erik Clare, executive director of Bucks County Housing Group. “It’s such a fun and meaningful way to make a difference; every rider helps bring food and hope to local families during the holiday season.
