Did You See the Meteor Over Doylestown Friday?

Twitter was abuzz Friday with reports of a large, bright meteor streaking across the night sky over the Eastern Seaboard.

A Doylestown Facebook fan said she saw it in Warrington, and another in Bedminster Township said it was “super bright.”

Dianna Miller posted this on our Facebook page too: "My daughter and I saw it around 8:00 pm while taking a walk in Cold Spring Hunt in Buckingham."

Montgomery County resident E. Steven Collins said he saw the meteor moving quickly across the sky, and told the Washington Post's "Capital Weather Gang" that the meteor was "Bright. Orange. Blue. White. Silver. Totally streaking by the sky light!"

But was it a meteor?

Christina Marie posted this note: “There has to be more than one from what people are saying on the news pages. Crazy. Just hope it's normal and not something the government is trying to cover up.”

The object, if it even existed, may have qualified as a fireball, defined by the American Meteor Society as a "very bright meteor, generally brighter than magnitude -4, which is about the same magnitude of the planet Venus in the morning or evening sky."
